Rare Hare Rabbitry

Jeanne Walton

Welcome to Rare Hare Rabbitry, named after the fact, I like all the rabbits that seem to be of the not too common variety....including Belgian Hares. Rare Hare is a registered Rabbitry through American Rabbit Breeders Association. We are members of ARBA, IL and WI State Rabbit Breeders, Winn-Forest and Stateline Rabbit Clubs, American Belgian Hare Club and the American Britanna Society. Our barn is filled with Belgian Hares and the shed with Britanna Pitites, and we still have a few Lionheads.

We are located just out side of Rockton in Northern Il, just 90 miles N/W of Chicago, IL and 60 miles South of Madison WI.  We show mainly in IL, WI, IA, IN, OH, and wherever a National or Convention my take us. Please stop by and see us if we are showing in your area.

Belgian Hare

Left cheek spot.  The white hairs appear white clear down to the skin. A similar (but not identical) spot exists on the right side of the face. Color is otherwise normal for the breed although it might be considered by some to be a bit dark.

The hare was obtained by the owner without pedigree as a pet and its extended ancestry is unknown. It was not entered and judged in the show.

Or a RARE HARE, I ask?
